I am an evolutionary biologist and an animal behaviorist who primarily studies Orthopteran insects. Most of my teaching is in ASURE, where I lead the Immune Response and Behavior Lab. In this series of courses, my students and I study how crickets allocate energy to different systems under different contexts, though we often branch into other topics.
I am also passionate about undergraduate education. I aim to incorporate authentic assessments in every course that I teach, including course-based research and community engaged learning.
